I’ve Scheduled My Breast Augmentation! Now What?

Congratulations! You’ve taken a big step. We would love to help you prepare for your procedure financially, physically, and mentally. We aim to provide the best breast augmentation experience possible here in Raleigh, NC. It’s arguably the most common procedure Raleigh plastic surgeons do, and we have worked hard to exceed your expectations at every step. We have spent hundreds of hours honing our process so that your experience is extraordinary.
Before we get into the details of the surgery or recovery, let’s talk about what to expect during your consultation. The consultation begins in our office with a friendly hello from the front desk. The timing works best if you can complete your history forms before coming in. The doctor will then greet you and bring you back to his office.
One of our most important goals is making sure you understand every aspect of the procedure, and your personalized consultation will focus on helping you learn all you need to know to make a great decision. You will have a quick exam with the doctor and have your 3D imaging done with our VECTRA® 3D imaging software. By the end of your consult, you will be able to begin seeing what you should expect by looking at your own body with implants. You’ll be able to see them at home as well, by logging into your MyTouchMD portal.
Your consult will focus on making sure we understand your goals, learning about the different types of implants, learning how the surgery can be personalized to you (including complementary procedures as applicable, such as a mommy makeover), and learning about the recovery. That recovery is different for each person, but we moved to a rapid recovery system 2 years ago and have seen dramatic improvement.
At the end of your conversation with the doctor, you will meet with our Patient Care Coordinator. Please know that our Patient Care Coordinators and Concierges are available for any questions, concerns, or support you need throughout your procedure and afterwards. They will help you schedule your surgery in our private onsite surgical facility and set up a preoperative appointment for you around 2 weeks prior to your breast augmentation.
During your “pre-op” appointment, be prepared to meet with your surgical nurse, surgeon and Patient Care Coordinator. Your designated nurse will prepare you for a healthy and comfortable recovery. They will also set you up with our custom day-by-day recovery videos you can preview.
Stop smoking! We will recommend you to stop smoking several weeks ahead of your surgery. It’s not good for your health generally, but when you’re having surgery, it’s a big risk factor for problems with bleeding and healing. Always tell your surgical team in advance of your surgery which vitamins and medications you regularly take. You may be asked to stop taking certain medications (and vitamins) before surgery, or to take specific things.
You will then meet with your coordinator again to confirm future appointments, payment and financing options. Now you are all set!
Many of our patients have enjoyed joining online communities to help with research and support. RealSelf.com and Eden Knows Implants are two groups many of our patients have found useful.
If you are considering financing some or all of your procedure, be sure and read through your options prior to your preoperative visit. You can find more information by contacting our Patient Care Coordinators to discuss the best option for you.
