Your long-lasting facial filler is here!

It is a well known fact that the rosy, full cheeks of youth sag or deflate as we age. Consequently there is welcome news for many surgeons and patients alike who would like an option to re-capture a fuller cheek without surgery—a new facial filler has been approved for just that purpose. It’s called JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC. Age-related facial volume loss is a growing need in the field of aesthetic medicine. The 2013 American Society for Dermatological Surgery (ASDS) Consumer Survey on Cosmetic Procedures revealed that one of the top reasons why people choose to undergo a cosmetic procedure is because they want to look as young as they feel, with 61% of respondents most bothered by sagging facial skin.
For patients who feel they are exhibiting early signs of aging, or who are not ready for a cheek or facelift, this is an exciting new option that creates wonderful results with little to no downtime. Davis Plastic Surgery is delighted to be one of the first practices to offer Voluma in the Raleigh area. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC is a gel that is injected into cheek area to gently lift the skin. The gel is made from a modified form of hyaluronic acid, a natural complex sugar that occurs within the body. It is designed to be injected deep in the check so it is not palpable, but it fills up the cheek over the cheekbone and recaptures fullness. Mild swelling or bruising can occur, but resolves quickly. Most remarkably, the vast majority of patients treated with this product during the study phase felt their result was still present at two years following treatment.
“There are new products and treatments that come on the market all the time, but we are especially impressed and excited about Voluma,” said Dr. Jeremy Pyle. “For the first time, women now have a non-surgical option for treating the cheek area and an affordable and long-lasting means to help turn back the clock.”
At Davis Plastic Surgery, our skilled nurse injectors and surgeons use flexible blount cannulas to inject our fillers. This is not only the safest way to inject fillers, but it also results in less pain and bruising for you! Flexible cannulas cost more than traditional needles, but we think your safety and comfort is worth the expense on our part.
